I’ve made a personal commitment to make self care a priority in 2015. I hope that some of you will join me by doing the same.
As a mother of young children, I know it is hard for parents to make time for themselves.
As a therapist, I know it is hard for those in the helping professions to make time for themselves, too.
It is important that we take care of ourselves, too! We need to do it for our own well being. Additionally, we need to take care of ourselves in order to make sure we are in a good place to be there for our families and/or those who we support through our work.
Here are some self care quotes to inspire you:
“It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.” – Mandy Hale
“The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself.” – Steve Maraboli
“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” – Etty Hillesum
“Whatever you are doing, love yourself for doing it. Whatever you are feeling, love yourself for feeling it.” – Thaddeus Golas
If you’d like to join me in making self care a priority, it may be helpful to think of a strategy to motivate you to maintain your commitment. This winter/spring, I am planning at least six blog posts on the topic of self care and offering two free workshops on self care (see below for more information). This plan will give me the opportunity to support others in creating opportunities for self care while also motivating me to stay on track myself. What strategy could help you stay on track?
I’d like to leave you with one more self care related quote,
“Nourishing yourself in a way that helps you blossom in the direction you want to go is attainable, and you are worth the effort.” – Deborah Day
Ready, Set, Take Care of YOU!
