Becoming a parent is a time of transition and is often unexpectedly met with so many mixed emotions. Even transitions that we are excited for and plan for, such as pregnancy or the birth of a baby can be overwhelming.
Many changes take place during pregnancy and after the birth of a baby. Our bodies change. Our sense of identity changes. Our relationships change. Our schedules change. And more…..this can definitely be challenging to navigate while caring for a newborn.
I enjoy providing therapy for parents during pregnancy and the post-partum period. As a PMH-C certified mental health professional, I have completed advanced training in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and passed a certification test reflecting this knowledge.
If you are struggling and don’t feel that your transition to parenthood is going exactly the way that you wanted, please know you are not alone and help is available.
